Special Issue
Advancing Health Professionals Education through Competency-Based Medical Education in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia
Scope of the Special Issue
MedPharmRes invites submissions for a special issue dedicated to the implementation and advancement of Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. As these countries continue to innovate and reform their health professional education systems, there is a growing need to document experiences, share best practices, and highlight research that supports the development of a competent and responsive healthcare workforce.
This special issue aims to provide a platform for scholars, educators, practitioners, and policymakers to share insights, challenges, and successes in integrating CBME across various educational and healthcare settings. We welcome contributions that highlight regional experiences, foster cross-border learning, and provide evidence-based recommendations to enhance health professional education in Southeast Asia.
We invite original research, reviews, case studies, and policy analyses that focus on, but are not limited to, the following topics:
- CBME Frameworks and Curriculum Development: Innovations in designing and implementing competency-based curricula tailored to the healthcare needs of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.
- Faculty Development and Training: Approaches to equipping educators with the necessary skills and tools to effectively deliver CBME.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Methods for measuring competencies, including formative and summative assessments, and the development of practical assessment tools.
- Policy and Governance in CBME Implementation: National and institutional policies that support or challenge the adoption of CBME frameworks.
- Health Systems Integration: Aligning CBME with national health priorities and system needs to ensure a competent healthcare workforce.
- Interprofessional Education: Strategies for fostering collaboration among different healthcare professionals within CBME models.
- Technology-Enhanced Learning: The role of digital platforms, e-learning tools, and simulation in facilitating CBME delivery.
- Challenges and Lessons Learned: Case studies that document barriers faced during CBME implementation and strategies used to overcome them.
